If I Am Travelling With A Minor (Aged Seventeen And Under) That Is My Child But Who Has A Different Surname To Me, Or Who Is Not My Child, Do I Need Permission From A Parent Or Legal Guardian Before Travelling?

To ensure the safety of any minor travelling, most cruise lines ask any adult taking responsibility for a minor to have the correct legal documentation to show they are permitted to take the minor on the cruise. They may also ask for the document to show you can sign waivers and other such documents for the child.

In the case where an adult is taking a minor and they are not the Parent or Legal Guardian, they will request documentation to show the adult has permission from a Parent/Legal Guardian to do so.

Each cruise line and airline may have different rules around these situations. We advise you to check with the cruise line's and airline's website at the earliest opportunity so you have time to get the necessary documents.

If you are:

• Travelling with children as a solo parent.
• Travelling with children with a different surname from you.
• Travelling with children's friends (bf/gf, etc.) who are under 18

(“children” = anyone under 18)

Please ensure that you have permission that confirms that the child/children are permitted to travel with you.

This can include (but is not limited to)

• Birth certificate
• Signed authorisation letter from the other parent/s
• Court orders
